A wool designed for tapestry on canvas

Laine Colbert DMC is a thread 100% combed and twisted virgin wool , composed of 4 non-separable strands: no handling of strands is necessary before embroidering, a real time saving on the work. Its smooth and regular texture gives a soft appearance and ensures excellent coverage on the canvas, ideal for completely hiding the canvas even on large surfaces. Presented in 8 m skeins, it resists moths and maintains good color retention over time, two valuable assets for pieces intended to be framed or displayed over the long term. Washing in water is not recommended on this wool; dry cleaning is preferred.

• Stretch the canvas over a frame or loom before starting, to preserve its initial shape.
• Work with yarn lengths of 45 to 50 cm to prevent the wool from fraying.
• For plain backgrounds, if possible, choose skeins from the same dye bath in order to avoid shades.
• Avoid overtightening the stitches: the fluffy appearance of the thread comes out better once the work is finished.
• Opt for the half-stitch, the technique best suited to this thick wool.

This thread pairs naturally with a classic canvas, rounded-point tapestry needles and an embroidery frame, to create cushions, wall tapestries or decorative paintings. Cream combines easily with the other shades in the collection to build a gradient or a pattern of several colors on the same work.
