Description
Tapestry requires wool that holds securely in the hand and that the needle passes through without resistance. Colbert DMC 486 wool meets these two requirements: it is a stranded, thick and regular yarn, designed specifically for canvas and tapestry on aida. Horizon Blue 7799 is a slightly grayed sky blue that evokes both serenity and depth — ideal for delicate backgrounds or foregrounds.
This 8 meter skein in 100% wool is threaded onto a canvas or tapestry needle. The wool is worked in one piece, without separating the strands: you thread the entire yarn for ample and generous stitch coverage. French manufacturing : this wool exudes the know-how of the French textile tradition, a guarantee of quality and regularity. The thickness of the thread allows it to quickly cover medium density canvases and create raised textures if you combine it with other shades.
Available in a beautiful palette of coordinated colors, Horizon Blue 7799 blends naturally with pearl grays, off-whites and deeper blues to create subtle gradients or structured contrasts.
- Thread the canvas needle with a length of 40 to 50 cm to prevent the wool from fraying while working.
- Always stitch from the front: the Colbert can be embroidered with cross stitch, chain stitch or back stitch on Aida canvas or embroidery canvas.
- For a uniform result, pass the needle with the same hand at each point, without tightening too much: the wool must cover the canvas without stretching the stitches.
- Test the color on a white canvas before wetting the work: although stable, it is recommended to wash with lukewarm water after finishing.
- Combine this shade with Colbert 486 in white 7600 or pearl gray to create aerial backgrounds on a Native American or seascape project.
To enhance your tapestry creations, combine this Colbert blue horizon 7799 wool with Bohin or Prym canvas needles size 18 to 20, and a 14 or 18 point Aida canvas. Colbert wools complement each other: don't hesitate to mix several colors on the same work to obtain fluid shades and sophisticated shades.
