Description
DMC Colbert 486 tapestry wool is the essential ally for your canvas and cross-stitch embroidery projects. This 100% wool thread provides rich texture and generous coverage on embroidery canvas. The Lièvre 7521 color, a nuanced light beige, brings warmth and subtlety to small or medium format works.
Composition and characteristics : this quality wool, made in France , comes in the form of an 8 meter skein. Its thick four-strand structure makes it ideal for rapid passages on 10 or 12 point per centimeter canvas. The thickness of the thread covers the textile base well, thus limiting touch-ups.
The Colbert 486 Lièvre 7521 is worked with a medium diameter tapestry needle (n° 18 to 22). For dense areas, never separate this thread: use it as is for a better result. On the other hand, on areas of fine shading, you can reduce the thickness by working with a finer needle, without dividing the strands.
- Fill in the blank canvas areas in three regular passes for a fluid, gap-free result.
- Combine this neutral beige with earthy tones — ochre, rust, warm gray — for a calm, natural shades.
- Use Colbert wool in “edge stitch” on a floral pattern to structure the petals without overloading the canvas.
- To prevent the wool from fluffing, keep the needles short, 30 to 35 centimeters, especially at the end of the skein.
- Clean your finished work in fresh lukewarm water, without wringing: the wool redraws beautifully after drying flat.
Complete this color with a palette of DMC Colbert wools in shades — taupe, pearl gray, light caramel — for delicate transverses. The DMC brand also offers 100% cotton canvas, pre-printed or blank, which goes perfectly with this range of French wool. A coherent whole for sustainable textile creations.
