Embroidery on canvas requires wool that holds color, does not pill and generously covers each stitch. DMC Colbert 486 Tapestry Wool meets all these criteria: it is the reference thread for cross stitch on embroidery canvas, large canvas and traditional tapestry projects.

This 8 meter skein in 100% wool offers an ideal thickness for filling the squares of a canvas without accumulating layers. The color Lapis 7023 , a very strong blue, combines with gray tones and neutral shades to structure a pattern. French manufacturing guarantees regular and durable wool, even after numerous passes with the needle. This natural material is worked with canvas needles No. 18 to No. 22 depending on the canvas: the thinner the canvas, the smaller the needle.

• Work with needles of 40 cm maximum to prevent the wool from becoming weakened by friction.
• Pass the needle perpendicular to the canvas: Colbert wool fills better when it is not stretched at an angle.
• On a #14 canvas (14 stitches per inch), this skein covers approximately 0.5 to 0.7 m² in simple cross stitch.
• Maintenance is done in cold water, with a very mild soap: no machine, no wringing.
• Combine Lapis 7023 with whites or pearl grays to create discreet gradients on wall decoration projects.

To complete your palette, look for lighter shades of blue or wool-toned grays: the Colberts go easily with each other for jobs that require several passes of color.
