Description
Repairing a tear or reinforcing a seam requires a fine, regular thread that fits the existing stitch perfectly. This DMC 829B darning thread in Ecru 997 color offers exactly this finesse, with a structure that blends into the fabrics without creating unsightly excess weight.
100% cotton , this thread is distinguished by its entirely French manufacturing and its remarkable regularity. The 10g spool guarantees a generous supply for all repair jobs, from small tears in everyday clothing to delicate repairs on old linen. Its finesse allows you to work on tight knits as well as on light fabrics without ever forcing it.
The Ecru 997 color harmonizes naturally with ecru canvases, natural linens, off-white cottons and pastel shades. Its discreet tone makes it a valuable ally for invisible darnings, where the color of the thread must fade in favor of the quality of the work.
- Thread a fine needle with a length of 40 to 50 cm to prevent the thread from fraying during the darning.
- On a linear hook, make vertical chain stitches on each side before closing with horizontal stitches.
- To reinforce a weakened seam, slide the thread into the groove of the existing seam rather than crossing it diagonally.
- First test on a scrap of the same fabric to adjust the tension and prevent the thread from pulling the stitch.
- Combine this thread with a fine universal needle for cotton, or with a special needle if you are working on knitting.
Complete your kit with a Bohin or Prym darning needle, then an assortment of darning threads in complementary neutral shades: light gray, white and beige. A magnifying glass or a needle threader will make your precise movements even easier on small projects.
